They have everyday chores on one color of homemade magnets and chores that are not everyday on another color (for example, the 7 and 9 yr olds dust their rooms once a week). That way, they can see every day (and mom can too) where they are on getting their tasks done. i even include things like reading for 30 minutes or working on math...it just depends on their ages and needs. It has been working well for us thus far. But one of my problems is definitely clutter and piles of paper, so I am trying to work on that.Slava Boguhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16360958138558420595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2266422601551934401.post-20923114159315866992007-07-02T09:42:00.000-07:002007-07-02T09:42:00.000-07:00I try to do flylady when I can, but most of the ti...I try to do flylady when I can, but most of the time I don't get as far as missions. The big thing that works for me is to pick two or three jobs I want to get done that day, then set the timer for 15 minutes every time I feel like working. I can go back and forth and do other stuff in between and usually the jobs get done by the evening.mamashinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08241907694055621400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2266422601551934401.post-81685027403509356772007-07-02T04:03:00.000-07:002007-07-02T04:03:00.000-07:00Just saw the question...I too try to keep the kitc...Just saw the question...
I too try to keep the kitchen clean as I use it. (with four kiddos it's not easy) and do laundry pretty much constantly. I have followed flylady's plan for keeping the house clean, focusing on the major messy areas and then spending more time in each room each day. It works pretty well.Anniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16910919508996307906noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2266422601551934401.post-18559700634190560082007-07-01T22:35:00.000-07:002007-07-01T22:35:00.000-07:00My son is almost 20 and like you, I thought things...My son is almost 20 and like you, I thought things would be easier when he was older and so far, that hasn't happened.

I don't get real fired up about the housekeeping but here are two things that I *always* do.

1. I make sure the kitchen is very clean before I go to bed. I'm a slob and if I let myself, I'd go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink.

2. I do whatever cleaning I'm going to do (except for the kitchen) first thing in the morning. I have less distractions and am more energetic then.

I try to vacuum every morning so that means I try to make sure things are picked up off the carpet before I go to bed.

We have 7 rooms upstairs and I start with the kitchen/breakfast area on Monday because that area gets abused on the weekends. Each room/area gets a day. I try to spend one hour cleaning and it's kinda like a race against myself to see how much I can get done in that hour.

My biggest problem is clutter. If I could control the clutter, the cleaning would be easy . . I think!Grannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10720927550545452529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2266422601551934401.post-43733579899270364522007-07-01T22:04:00.000-07:002007-07-01T22:04:00.000-07:00No schedule here for cleaning. With a 9 month old, two toddlers, and two older boys, I have NO time during the day :) Great menu for this week. have a great holiday.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
